Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 8, 2026 · Last Updated: June 8, 2026
We believe privacy is a right, not a feature. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we need it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have, without complex legalese.

Introduction and Scope
Adaptive AI ("we", "us", "our") operates the Adaptive AI platform at adaptive-ai.app and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal data when you access or use our Platform. It applies to all users worldwide, including visitors who have not created an account. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

How We Collect Data
- Directly from you when you register, complete your profile, take quizzes, or contact us.
- Automatically through cookies, server logs, and analytics scripts as you navigate the Platform.
- From third-party services such as Google OAuth when you choose to sign in with your Google account.
- From AI interactions: when you use AI mentor, AI tutor, or document querying features, your prompts are sent to our AI inference provider to generate a response.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR & DPDPA)
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on the following:
| Purpose | Legal Basis | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Providing the Platform | Contract performance | Processing necessary to deliver the service you signed up for |
| Personalising your learning | Legitimate interest | Adapting content to your progress improves the core service |
| Security & fraud prevention | Legitimate interest | Protecting the Platform and all users from abuse |
| Marketing emails | Consent | Only sent if you opt in; you may withdraw consent at any time |
| Legal compliance | Legal obligation | Retaining records as required by applicable law |
How We Use Your Data
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity securely.
- To personalise your learning path, surface relevant courses, and adapt difficulty to your progress.
- To generate AI-powered responses in the AI mentor, tutor, and document summariser features.
- To track your progress, award certificates, and maintain your learning history across sessions.
- To operate leaderboards, streaks, XP systems, and gamification features.
- To display your portfolio and allow you to share projects or certificates.
- To improve the Platform by analysing how features are used in aggregate.
- To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, certificate issuance).
- To send service announcements and updates about significant platform changes.
- To investigate, prevent, and respond to security incidents, fraud, and abuse.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful government requests.
AI Features and Data Processing
When you use any AI-powered feature (AI mentor, AI tutor, flashcard generator, quiz generator, career advisor, document summariser, etc.), your input and relevant context (such as the current course topic or document content) is sent to our AI inference provider, Groq, Inc., to generate a response. This transmission occurs over encrypted HTTPS. Groq processes this data under a Data Processing Agreement with us and does not use your queries to train its public models. Responses are generated in real time and not stored indefinitely on Groq's servers. We store your AI conversation history on our own infrastructure (Supabase) so you can review past interactions. You may delete your AI conversation history at any time from your account settings.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use the following types of cookies and local storage:
- Essential cookies: required for authentication and session management. Without these, you cannot stay signed in.
- Preference cookies: remember your settings such as theme preference and notification preferences.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand how users navigate the Platform so we can improve it. These are aggregated and anonymised where possible.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
